The Most Beautiful Words in
Any Presentation are "For Example". |
|
| |
One way to
determine whether you’re a good speaker is to see how many
times you use the words “For example” in your presentations.
If you use
those words a lot, then chances are that you’re telling lots
of stories when you speak. And if you’re telling lots of
stories, chances are that you’re giving a very good
presentation.
The words
“For example” are magical in their ability to produce a nice
relevant story. |

Want to Sound Confident in Q&A? Try to Pass the "Cell
Phone Test". |
|
|
Rambling answers make you look uncertain in
meetings and during presentations. So if you
want to come across as confident in Q&A, keep the
answers tight.
Make your answers pass the “Cell Phone Test.”
In other words, your answers should be tight
enough so that if you’re cut off before you’re
done - as in many cell phone calls -- the
questioner will still get the substance of your
answer.

A
Public Speaking Lesson From John D. Rockefeller. Sort
of. |
|
|
“To do the common thing uncommonly well brings success.”
That’s what
John D. Rockefeller said about success in business. But he
could have been speaking about success in public speaking.
Great speakers do some common things very well. They keep their
messages to a few simple points. They tell stories. And they
speak with passion.

What to do with a Sleeping Audience Member? Nothing.
It's all you can do! |
|
|
You’re
giving a great speech and almost everyone in the audience seems to be very
involved. But there’s one fly in the ointment: one audience
member has her eyes closed!
What do
you do?
Nothing.
Ignore
her. |

You Be a Star! |

When Henry
Ford introduced the Model T, the joke was that you could have
your car any color you wanted “Just so long as you want
black.” Unfortunately, most public speaking training is the
same.
Most
public speaking training takes place in workshops. But
Speechworks is changing that model with Communication
Situation Coaching. |
