How to Keep Your Brain from Freezing     When You Stand Up to Give a Speech.

George Jessel said, “The human brain starts working the moment you are born and never stops until you stand up to speak in public.”

Indeed, the beginning of the presentation is the point when you’re most nervous. To deal with those initial nerves, we tell our clients to practice that part of the presentation more than any other part.  Once you get through the beginning, usually you’re going to be fine.

That’s just one of many tactics we teach at Speechworks.  Or programs focus primarily on two areas:

  • How to organize a message that is tight, simple and focuses on audience needs. Speechworks teaches a simple Formula for focusing on listener needs.  We believe that if you have strong content, you will be more confident when you get up to speak.
  • How to deliver the message in a style that connects with the listeners.  We focus on eye contact, gestures, voice energy, and facial energy. Our coaches will give you private feedback on where you most need to improve.

Keeping your brain from shutting down during a presentation is not hard.  It just takes a little coaching and some practice.  That’s what we give our clients at Speechworks.

At Speechworks we help our clients learn how to communicate in a way that connects and persuades.  If you’re interested in becoming a great communicator give us a call at 404-266-0888 or check out our website at www.speechworks.net
